The screening service is triggered after five days of absence, the maximum time for self- certification. This enables the employer to identify those employees who are most likely to become absent long-term allowing intervention at the earliest possible opportunity. Early identification also maximises the impact of clinical intervention, and therefore minimises its cost, should it be appropriate.
Once authorisation is received, a treatment programme will be developed tailored to the needs of the individual, augmenting current treatment (usually provided by the NHS) as appropriate.
Unlike other absence services our objective is simply to target, through clinical and vocational intervention, those employees who clinically need help. This is a direct benefit of employment whilst also reducing employer’s cost of long-term absence
At every stage the employer is in complete control of both the process and the costs. |
