Work status report
In cases where the accident that caused the injury is employment-related, we believe an essential first step is to contact the employer and discuss their understanding of the accident and injury.
The objective of this initial contact is to establish further details surrounding the incident that could have an immediate bearing on the rehabilitation. These typically include:
  • Incident and injury details
  • Occupational information including the physical demands of the patient’s job
  • Absence information
  • Return to work information.

We find that this employer information is vital in managing and setting the functional objectives (from a vocational perspective) for the ongoing rehabilitation. Early liaison also has the benefit of:

  • Setting the foundation of vocational rehabilitation on which we build throughout the process
  • Managing the rehabilitation expectations and realistic return to work timeframes for the employer
  • Extending our team rehabilitation philosophy to include the employer and their occupational health teams
  • Securing commitment from the employer to support an early return to work

Where appropriate the immediate deployment of treatment and vocational rehabilitation on appropriate cases.
